Mens Health is Important Too!

As a company specializing in nutritional approaches to weight loss, I see many women concerned about wellness and take immediate action when they see a few extra pounds on the scale. Some men are interested in prevention as well, but typically they only become concerned about lifestyle issues after a medical event. Unfortunately, it requires a diagnosis of diabetes or heart disease before men grasp their picture of health.

Many men ignore self-care such as regular exercise or following a healthy diet as they climb the corporate ladder or otherwise push themselves for success in their occupation. Sadly, this is at the expense of their health. I encountered many men in my previous career as an Options Trader who retired young (the early 50s) due to medical conditions developed over the years from less-than-optimal self-care.

Think about your Retirement: Do you want retirement to be the time to enjoy the best of what life has to offer, or will this be the time that youll be tending to health-related issues?

Men whove become accustomed to going 100 mph daily, often enter retirement without any real activity plan. Who can blame them? Its time to rest and relax. Unfortunately, like many of us, they may find enjoying abundant food and drinking alcohol to pass the time. These unhealthy habits lead to midsections growing and needing to buy belts in a larger size. Its common for men to carry excess weight in the abdomen more than any other part of their body. Weight gain in this area is associated with the start of Metabolic Syndrome, a pre-diabetic condition with increased risks of heart disease, stroke, Alzheimers, high cholesterol, and blood pressure.

Whats the solution for men?

For both working and retired men to function at peak performance, eating well, and developing a sustainable exercise regimen are the best ways to maintain good health and vitality. There is a ton of medical evidence to show that our bodies function at optimal levels when people follow more structured meal plans consisting of three moderately sized meals and three snacks that are of high quality and nutritionally complete. Its why Vfinity created V1 Smoothie, V2 Greens, and KetoPerk so that people like me can have nutritionally sound supplements.

Many men have gotten used to a breakfast of coffee and maybe a pastry, bagel, sugar-filled donut, or high-fat eggs and sausage. Men need lean protein in their diets to maintain lean muscle mass. A 10-ounce New York Strip steak for dinner regularly doesnt cut it, unfortunately. The body can only use approximately 4-6 ounces of protein at a time. My doctor advised me to eat lean protein throughout the day instead of all at once. When you eat it all at one sitting, it gets stored as fat.

Lean protein choices can include fish, chicken, lean pork, turkey, and reduced-fat red meat. Also crucial for mens health is to obtain phytonutrients from a variety of veggies and fruits. Its why created V2 GREENS so that people could get their daily dose of fruits and vegetables, and V1 SMOOTHIE, that contains a potent dose of phytonutrients in one easy scoop.

The most crucial food group I want to mention is carbohydrates. Men (and womens) tolerance for carbohydrates decreases with age and lower activity levels. The food guide pyramid stresses carbs as the foundation, but it was created based on information from active military men, who expend enormous amounts of daily energy. Your carbohydrates should come from high-quality whole-grain source, because they contain more fiber.
